Every morning you wake up and still struggle. Sometimes your symptoms are intense, and you don’t know how you’re going to get through. Other times, they are just there in the background.

But they never go away completely. Even if you have a period where things are really good, you wait for them to come back. Because in your experience, the symptoms are never gone for good. Eventually, they come back.

You’ve been struggling for a long time, and it feels like you’ve tried everything. Over the years, you’ve tried all the self-help books, medications, and even talk therapy.

Yes, these things have made an impact, but you’ve never been able to get to where you would like to be. The symptoms have never gone away completely.

It feels like you’ve tried everything

You want to know how to help yourself.

You want to wake up in the morning feeling “normal”. Without gut-crushing depression, anxiety, or the urge to act on something you know you don’t want to do anymore.

You want to enjoy your life without constantly feeling stuck and depressed because you can’t figure out how to move forward.

It would be amazing to feel better. The way you always hope you’ll feel if a new therapy or medication were to actually work. It would be even better if that feeling lasts longer than a couple of months.

You would love to get back to the beautiful feeling of normalcy on your own, without searching for help for years.

You want to know how to help yourself if you start struggling again.

What is a Therapy Intensive?

Therapy intensives are basically a lot of therapy in a short amount of time. Because the time between sessions is shorter and the sessions are longer, this means that you can experience more progress in a shorter amount of time.

You don’t have as much to catch up on between sessions, and there isn’t as much review time.

This means that you get the maximum amount of impact in the shortest amount of time.

We focus on one issue. This means that you have a certain number of hours all focused on that one issue.

There are many different formats for intensives. The way that I do them is that we complete 12-20 hours of therapy in a relatively small amount of time. Usually, we do this by meeting for around 2 hours per session regularly for around 1-2 weeks.

Many people report that intensives feel like you have received many months' worth of therapy in a much shorter time.

Basically, this means that you can get better quicker.

Intensives with TEAM CBT

While I do use other methodologies during intensives, I often offer TEAM CBT intensives. Even outside of the intensive format, Team CBT already feels like summer school for mental health.

This means it works really well in an intensive format where you can get all these good skills and practice in a short period of time.

With Team CBT intensives, together we will pick one issue and then focus on learning to work with that one issue.

TEAM-CBT is a new form of cognitive behavioral therapy developed by Dr. David Burns, an author and expert in CBT for anxiety and depression. It is an evidence-based, structured approach specifically designed to help you feel better faster.

TEAM-CBT places a strong emphasis on helping clients like you get better quickly.

The best way to explain TEAM-CBT is to explain what it stands for.

➤ Testing — We keep track of your symptoms using quick, concrete scales before and after each session. This allows us to see how you are doing and make changes as needed.

➤ Agenda Setting — We set goals and identify and address the things that are getting in the way of your making the changes you need.

➤ Empathy — Creating an environment where you feel deeply heard and seen through warm, supportive, attentive listening.

➤ Methods — TEAM-CBT pulls from a wide range of cognitive, behavioral and other techniques, all tailored to your specific needs.

What Does a Therapy Intensive Look Like?

During the intensive, you will learn to examine your thoughts and learn skills to help with them. Then, you will take those skills home with you to practice and bring your feedback to your next appointment.

The nice thing about the intensive format is that the time you have to practice is enough time to get some good rehearsal in, but not long enough to lose your focus. When you come back to your next session, we assess whether the skill was helpful and worked for you. Then we start the process again.

Through this process, you will learn many different skills that might help. By the time we are done, you will know which skills are helpful to you and which skills are not.

Intensives with TEAM CBT

Intensives are most effective for people ready to work hard in a short period of time and really see results. The people who have been doing their best but just haven’t been able to get the results from therapy that they want.

Intensives are not just talk therapy, where you talk about your problems and slowly make progress. These intensives are learning the skills to have optimal mental health in a short discreet period of time.

My goal is that by the end of your intensive, you will have all of the skills you need to tackle any new mental health issues that come up in the future.
